AN OPEN LETTER TO OUR FRIENDS, CUSTOMERS AND COMMUNITY LEADERS:
On behalf of all of our employees and my family, I would like to thank you for the encouragement and support you have given us in the last 30 days. General Motors’s decision not to renew our Chevrolet franchise came to us as a complete surprise. Since we’ve been in Rochester selling and servicing new Chevrolets for over 33 years, we did not expect this. We think it’s a bad decision. Apparently, you think so too.
The outpouring of support we received from you was overwhelming. It has warmed our hearts more than you realize. What you told us is that we did not deserve this action and we agree.
Since we received the letter of non-renewal from GM, we’ve received over 4,000 items of support from you. Thank you for your phone calls, visits, letters, e-mails, petitions and new face-book friends. Quite frankly, your encouragement has energized us. With your help, we fought a tough fight to retain the Chevrolet franchise, but unfortunately, to no avail. We will no longer be selling Chevrolets after October 1, 2010.
We will succeed without the help of GM. We will be better!
We will continue to sell quality used cars and trucks. Our service department will continue to provide quality service and repairs for all makes and models. We will also maintain our collision center operation too.
On the Chrysler side of the world, we’ve been notified that we remain as an authorized Chrysler and Jeep dealer. That has not changed. With the introduction of Fiat in the mix, we will have even more to offer as time goes on.
Please be mindful of the fact that our Chevrolet Franchise Agreement does not end until October 1, 2010. That gives us over a year to continue to sell new Chevrolets and provide warranty service for you.
We’ve been dealt a bad deal. But life goes on, and we will too. To quote one of our employees, “when you are dealt a lemon, you make lemonade”.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Dick Poulin
